Pastor’s Weekly Message: 2/19/2025
Dear Westview Church,
This Sunday, as we celebrate Mission Sunday, we are reminded that God’s mission is one of love, generosity, and reconciliation. The story of Joseph in Genesis shows us how even in the face of betrayal, God can bring healing. Joseph tells his brothers, “Do not be distressed or angry with yourselves…for God sent me before you to preserve life” (Genesis 45:5).What a powerful reminder that mission work isn’t just about big projects or far-off places—it’s about the way we live, the way we forgive, and the way we trust God to work through us.
Jesus’ words in Luke take this even further: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you” (Luke 6:27). That’s not always easy, but mission begins when we choose love over fear, generosity over resentment. Whether it’s feeding the hungry, extending kindness to a difficult neighbor, or simply showing patience, every small act of love reflects God’s greater mission. As the Psalmist says, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act” (Psalm 37:5).
Mission Sunday isn’t just about what we do—it’s about who we are. Paul reminds us that God is always bringing transformation: “What is sown in dishonor is raised in glory” (1 Corinthians 15:43). Our calling is to plant seeds of grace, knowing that God is the one who makes them grow. Whether in our church, our homes, or our community, we are part of something bigger than ourselves. May we embrace this mission with open hands and open hearts.
Peace,
Pastor Marty
